River Bend Cottages Graaff-Reinet, Eastern Cape

River Bend is a historic Graaff-Reinet national monument which has been tastefully renovated into 4 modern-day cottages. It is situated in a quiet and leafy residential area and is a short 15-minute walk / 3-minute drive to local restaurants and shops.

Three of the cottages have a fully equipped kitchen, an air-conditioned en-suite bedroom and 1 or 2 sleeper couches in the lounge. Each cottage has a private patio area on which to braai and enjoy the silence of our Karoo evenings. There is secure off-street parking offered for all cottages.

Accommodation

Sweet Thorn Tree Cottage

Sleeps 1-4 people.

King-sized bed in an en-suite air-conditioned bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, open-plan lounge with a sleeper couch which folds down into 2 single mattresses.

There is a private braai patio area & an off-street parking bay with direct access to the cottage.

Wild Olive Tree Cottage

Sleeps 1-5 people, maximum 2 adults.

King-sized bed in an en-suite air-conditioned bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, open-plan lounge with 2 sleeper couches. One couch folds down into single mattresses and the other is suitable for a young adult or a child.

There is a private braai patio area and an off-street parking bay.

Camdeboo Stinkwood Tree Cottage 

Sleeps 1-3 people.

It offers twin beds in an en-suite air-conditioned bedroom, a kitchenette, a stylish lounge with a sleeper couch for one person, a dining room table & a covered front verandah.

The secure, off-street parking for this unit is around the street corner (30 seconds walk away) but still inside the property.

Shepherd’s Tree Cottage

Sleeps 1-4 people.

It offers twin beds in an en-suite air-conditioned bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen & a stylish lounge with a sleeper couch which folds down into 2 mattresses.

The twin beds can be made up into a king-sized bed, on request.

There is a private braai patio area and off-street parking with direct access to the cottage.

“Extremely Friendly.
The Riverbend’s self-catering units are very spacious and neatly decorated. I liked that externally it looked old-fashioned but the interior is modern. It has off-road parking and each unit has a patio area. The staff are extremely friendly and very accommodating. I will definitely book this accommodation the next time I visit Graaff Reinet.”

Riverbend Self Catering Cottages are beautiful with stunning decor and a lovely little “stoep” where you can relax and braai. The self-catering unit has everything you need, from air-conditioning to lovely bedding to keep you warm in the chilly Karoo. The hostess is extremely friendly and goes out of her way to make you feel welcomed. We will definitely be back in the future.”
