Proudfoot Holiday Farm, Kwa-Zulu Natal

Proudfoot Holiday Farm is situated 35kms from Mooi River, KZN, South Africa, offering pet-friendly and self-catering accommodation in the Midlands beautiful bushveld.

There are three accommodation options! The main house sleeps 15 people, which is ideal for large groups, the 2 sleeper cottage, ideal for a couple and an option of adding in a mattress for your little one(s), and Aloe Hill, which sleeps 8 people.

Proudfoot Holiday Farm are completely off the grid, our water is from a borehole and running springs, our lights are run off solar and inverters, and hot water and the stove are run off gas.

Accommodation options

The Cottage

Come stay in the Comfort Room for a real ‘home away from home’ atmosphere. Designed for comfort and convenience. This little gem sleeps 2, with the option of putting in a mattress in the lounge. It has one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a fully equipped kitchen (gas oven and stove and fridge freezer combo), a dining area, lounge, bathroom, and a veranda, with a charcoal braai, and a gorgeous garden.

Main House

The rooms provide the warmth, cleanliness, and extra space your family and friends need for a perfect holiday experience. The house can sleep up to 15 people (a minimum of 6 adults) as it has 5 bedrooms, 4 of the bedrooms have double beds and 1 bedroom has 2 single beds and a bunk bed. On either landing of the house, there is a single bed, one of which has a single pull-out bed underneath. The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, and the other bedrooms share 3 separate bathrooms. There are 2 lounges, a bar, and a large open-plan dining room, and fully equipped kitchen (gas stove, fridge freezer combo). There is a large entertainment area on the veranda, with a gas oven/braai as well as a charcoal braai, overlooking the rolling hills. There is a large garden with a jungle gym for the kids. There are 2 flat-screen TVs, one in the en-suite and the other in the lounge. For Dstv to be turned on it is R40 a day.

Aloe Hill

Aloe Hill is a charming self-catering home nestled in the mountains on a farm approximately 35 km from Mooi River. This off-the-grid property can accommodate up to 8 guests at a time and comprises 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The first bedroom is comfortably furnished with a double bed, while the second bedroom contains a queen-size bed as well as a bunk bed. The third bedroom also features a double bed. Each bathroom is fitted with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. Linen is provided; however, guests are required to bring their own towels. The home boasts a well-equipped kitchen with a gas stove, oven, toaster, kettle, cutlery, crockery, fridge-freezer, and a central dining table with benches. The adjacent lounge has a wood-burning fireplace and comfortable couches where guests can relax while admiring the views. The living area has stacking doors that open onto a wooden deck with outdoor seating, allowing guests to soak up the sun and enjoy the tranquillity of the farm. Portable braai facilities, a boma with seating, as well as on-site parking, are available.

ProudFoot has amazing walking trails as well as a large selection of birdlife.

They offer off-road trails for those who want to bring their quadbikes or 4X4 on the farm and surrounding areas.

“We stayed at Aloe Hill over Christmas and it was amazing! The views from both the living area downstairs and the main bedroom on top are out of this world! The seclusion and privacy of the house is perfect for those that are after a quiet escape.
The house is tastefully decorated and comfortable. Having full wifi and tv amenities was a big help since we had our 2 young children with us to entertain.
The solar electricity source was ample even with a day and a half of heavy rain and clouds.
The road up into the mountains is rather steep at times and rocky majority of the way so having a 4×4 or high clearance vehicle would give you full peace of mind, however we took the risk with a Hyundai atos and it did very well on the way up and even made it down fine after quite heavy rains!
Ernsest the grounds manger was super helpful in assisting us out as well.
The fact that it’s pet friendly was such a plus for us as we can never find places to take our large dog anywhere.
