Many of the holiday homes in Hermanus have been passed from generation to generation and a holiday in Hermanus is particularly special when you stay in one of these gracious homes that are filled with a host of memories of fun, sun, sea, sand, whales, laughter, fireside evenings, family and friends. Pat’s Place, one of the original Hermanus holiday guest houses, has belonged to the Clark family for three generations and they have been sharing their much loved home with visitors for the past 20 years. While the décor and facilities may have changed over the years with a splash of modern style and comfort, the ambience and hospitality is just as it has always been warm, relaxed, light hearted and friendly.

Accommodation options include the luxurious yet informal bed and breakfast guest house and equally comfortable self-catering Verandah House. All options are situated on a sizeable property with a sprawling garden. The garden includes a pool, three massive Oak trees, a Huilboerboon tree (favoured by sugar birds), hidey-holes, outdoor chairs and tables, braai (barbecue) facilities and incredible mountain views.

Legendary breakfasts are prepared where possible with the freshest, locally available seasonal ingredients. Beds are dressed in white percale cotton linens with bathrooms kitted out in fluffy large bath sheets. Each cushion, chair, and rug is carefully selected and placed for your comfort and enjoyment.

Guest House

Bed and breakfast (sleeps 8)

The Guest House consists of four spacious ensuite rooms with high ceilings and original parquet flooring. The Guest House comfortably sleeps eight and is serviced daily. Each room is individually decorated and named after whale watching viewpoints on the Hermanus cliff path.

Room amenities include free WiFi, a television with select satellite (DSTV) channels, complimentary toiletries, a safety deposit box for valuables and a hairdryer. There are laundry bags for laundry collection.

Self-catering

Verandah House (sleeps six)

A charming wrap around verandah encases two sides of the house hence its name. On the verandah sit a table and chairs for sunny breakfasts, easy chairs for reading and a sofa for whiling away the afternoon with the language of birds in the background.

The house itself contains a lounge, equipped kitchen and a dining room. There are three bedrooms, which together comfortably sleep six and two full bathrooms, one of which is ensuite. Out on the back stoep (Afrikaans for porch) you’ll find braai (barbecue) facilities for your exclusive use under the Huilboerboon tree. The stoep area also includes an additional private toilet and washbasin.

On request, the house can be serviced daily and an onsite laundry service can be arranged. We provide free WiFi and a television in the living area with select satellite (DSTV) channels.

“What a lovely home away from home!
Suzanne really went all the way to accommodate our Wheelchair group and we will go back without thinking about it!
Worked great with wheelchairs, just used our portable ramp at one spot.
Only problem was that we stayed waaaayyy to short! Next time we will book in a few days more!”
