Kruger River Villas, Mpumalanga

Each of the Kruger River Villa properties has its own special style and atmosphere, but they are all designed and equipped for your comfort. Mtombo boasts a rich history as one of the first homes in Marloth. Today, guests can experience the authentic charm of the bush while enjoying modern facilities.

Hyena House is tucked in a blissfully quiet spot where Giraffe visitors find the perfect leafy treats. Built with a wonderful blend of bush and colonial styles, Hyena House is sunny and airy and literally opens out onto nature.

Lions Gate boasts a modern minimalist style without compromising any warmth or luxury. Beautifully decorated, this well-appointed home has an open, inviting layout that tempts you to just stay home, enjoy the bush and indulge your every sensory desire.

Regardless of which home you choose, a memorable bush encounter awaits you, as you immerse yourself in the beauty of the wild.

Hyena House

This well-appointed holiday home is full of sunshine and opens out onto the wild from three sides of the house. Located in Marloth Park, bordering the iconic Kruger National Park, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Warthog, Kudu, Impala, Zebras, Bush Buck and Duiker can roam freely to your doorstep.

The spacious splendour of this comfortable, secure bush home offers two and a half en-suite bedrooms and a variety of entertainment areas catered from a well-equipped open plan kitchen.

The house opens onto a patio, barbecue boma and private pool, for leisure and outdoor dining to give you ample opportunities to enjoy nature without restrictions. Both queen downstairs bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms – one full including bathtub, the other with shower, W.C and basin, while the upstairs bedroom has two single beds and a 1/2 bathroom, with en-suite WC and basin.

While the comfort and serenity of Hyena House may tempt you to simply stay home and enjoy the sunshine and wild visitors to your garden, there are many attractions and activities nearby. The world-renowned Kruger National Park is a mere 15-minute drive, while Maputo and the Indian Ocean are easily accessible just 2 hours away by car. A 1-hour drive will have you in Swaziland and the spectacular sites along the Panorama Tour make a wonderful one-day expedition. Keen golfers are also spoilt for choice with Leopard Creek Golf Course just a 25-minute drive from Hyena House, and Skukuza and Komatipoort golf courses nearby too.

Whether you choose to venture out into the surrounding areas, or just walk and cycle in Marloth, you are assured of a most memorable escape.

Lions Gate

Lions Gate is beautifully designed with leisure in mind. Aptly named for its adjacency to the Lion, Rhino and Buffalo Conservancy within Marloth Park, it offers guests an unrivalled bush experience. Marloth Park is a wildlife reserve on the southern border of the world-renowned Kruger National Park, where one can live in harmony with non-predatory wild animals, who roam free. You can expect to hear Lions roaring and Hyenas calling at night, and to see breath-taking sunsets. The area is frequented by Wildebeest, Giraffe, Kudu, Zebra, Bush Buck, Duiker and Impala, and these wild visitors can sometimes be viewed from the property’s inviting 10- meter lap pool.

The fully equipped kitchen is stocked with quality tableware and stainless steel cookware. Appliances, including a dishwasher, provide hassle free self-catering. The two identical queen bedded rooms, dressed with quality percale linens, offer full en-suite bathrooms. Both have baths, twin basins and indoor and outdoor showers. A housekeeping service is included together with complimentary imported red and white wines, 6 beers and a well-stocked coffee/ tea station. If you are a discerning traveller that enjoys being immersed in luxury, Lionsgate is for you.

Mtombi

Mtombo (part of the Kruger River Villas group) offers classic comfort on the border (and with a horizon view), of the Kruger National Park. Located IN a game park where one can hand-feed zebra and other wildlife, Mtombo has a rich history as one of the first homes in Marloth Park. The name Mtombo, which means fountain/ well-spring/ source, is apt in that this renovated historic property is a place of peace and rejuvenation.

Mtombo offers guests three unique, beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms, outdoor dining, a boma braai/barbeque area and an inviting splash pool, in a secure, private bush setting. During your stay, you can expect to hear Lion, Hyena, Fish Eagle and Hippo, and if you take a walk to the river, you may be lucky enough to see Elephants, and maybe even Rhino. Take a drive (15 minutes away) and visit the one and only Kruger National Park, or if golf is your thing, play Leopard Creek (half an hour away), or even Skukuza Golf Course in Kruger Park.

Keen on seafood a-la-Portuguese? Pop over the border to Mozambique for a fish feast extravaganza (one hour away). Want to see a little African tribal dancing and experience Swazi tradition? Head south for an hour and visit the Kingdom of Swaziland. Or hey, stay where you are and relax – the local shops within the village have everything you need. As the area is popular for game viewing and all things nature-based, there are many providers of holiday activities like elephant back safaris, open vehicle safari drives, hikes, tiger/trout fishing, horse riding and quad biking, to name just a few. The rural people in the area are largely hospitality industry based and are very visitor friendly.
