Escape, regroup and recharge less than 90 km outside of Cape Town. Our fully-kitted country barn cottage takes the fuss out of a sneaky getaway. Pack a bag and get in the car. We have everything you need! Set in an old orchard on a working fruit farm in the magnificent Houw Hoek Valley. Beautiful decor and high quality appliances and finishes with the added benefits of Netflix and Wi-Fi. Enjoy spectacular hikes, mountain biking, wine tasting…all within close proximity!

Appliances and finishes are of the highest standard, and we guarantee you a comfortable, clean space.

More importantly though is the location. Set on a working farm with orchids and mountain views. Watch the seasons change from the perspective of a pear or apple tree…from the snow-white blossom in Spring to the pendulous branches of fruit before harvest! Swap hooting cars for hooting owls and barking dogs for croaking frogs!

Also recently added! A BRAND NEW fire place! As Elgin is the mountains, it tends to get quite cold in the winters, so we deiced to set the tone by adding a beautiful wood-fired fire place for those wintry nights!

The Orchard cottage can accommodate up to 7 guests with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

We have never had any problems with security, but the idea that farmers live with all their doors unlocked is probably a bit outdated. The cottage is 100% secure if all doors are locked so we advise this when you go to sleep or if you leave the cottage during the day. Don’t leave valuables outside in the garden overnight or cars unlocked.

“Awesome weekend getaway at the hatchery cottages. We had the most amazing experience here with our 4 month old baby. The hosts even put a travel cot in the room for us and made sure we were comfortable. The accomodation itself is very modern comfortable and clean. The views are stunning and the farm itself is peaceful. Really had the best time here, well worth every penny”

“I had the most beautiful Sunday at the farm celebrating my birthday with my friends.
We stayed in the Orchard Cottage which comfortably fitted 13 of us! We spent the day soaking up the sun by the pool and playing games on their beautiful lawn.
If you’re looking for a place to comfortably host a big group this is your spot! The cottage had everything we needed (including their adorable dogs). The farm is absolutely beautiful and we really enjoyed our morning walks and runs in the orchards.
The hosts are extremely friendly and allowed for a late check out on Monday which allowed some of us to take our morning meetings at the cottage.
