InKungu Lodge Winterton, KwaZulu-Natal

INKUNGU LODGE

A beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of the central Drakensberg that specializes in luxury getaways,
gourmet dining, intimate weddings and conferences.

“Inkungu Lodge celebrates the glorious views of the Central Drakensberg mountain ranges, melting into the natural flora with indigenous gardens and a rimflow pool that reflects the changing moods and seasons of the Champagne Valley region. Inkungu means mist or cloud in Zulu, and the ongoing play of both of these around the riverine valleys and craggy slopes contributes to the mountain’s moody mystique.

This harmony with nature has been carried through every aspect of the lodge – the sandstone walls, natural gardens and rim flow pools blend perfectly with the majesty of the surrounding Drakensberg mountain ranges.

Luxury accommodation within the lodge, each room has been individually designed with hand-picked furniture and gorgeous fabrics. Many of the rooms boast antiques, each with a unique story behind them.
There are 6 Standard Rooms, 4 Double Rooms and 2 Twin Rooms, all with en suite bathrooms. Each room leads out to a veranda with a stunning of the Drakensberg mountain range.

Inkungu Lodge, located in Champagne Valley, boasts stunning views of the majestic Drakensberg mountain range. The hotel features an outdoor pool, a restaurant, and a bar, with free WiFi available in public areas.

The interiors of the hotel exhibit charming exposed beams and antique furnishings. Each room is equipped with a flat-screen satellite TV, a safe, and air conditioning. The rooms also come with a balcony or patio and private bathroom.

Inkungu Lodge has 8 Bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms with a bath and shower and either a balcony or patio. All the hotel rooms have tea and coffee facilities. The two luxury rooms (The Presidential Suite and Romantic Luxury Suite), have private lounges with a built-in minibar.

Inkungu Boutique Hotel celebrates the glorious views of the Central Drakensberg mountain ranges. Our rim-flow pool, natural flora and indigenous gardens compliment a restful and uninterrupted vista of the Champagne Valley.

The lodge is located just 27.5 kilometres from Winterton.

Inkungu Lodge has stunning upmarket finishes throughout. Each room has been uniquely furnished, and the Lodge showcases a fine collection of predominantly Victorian and Edwardian furniture. Many of the pieces on display can trace their history back to the Boer War. Guests have a choice of accommodation including a romantic honeymoon suite and an executive Presidential suite, decorated with furniture from the Napoleonic era. The lodge boasts a fully equipped kitchen with experienced staff and chef to provide sumptuous breakfasts, and dinners. A well-stocked bar opens onto the swimming pool area, and there’s a wine cellar which includes a private collection for the discerning connoisseur.

There are many little cosy nooks at Inkungu Lodge, well stocked book shelves, some with valuable historic books for the discerning bibliophiles. Good internet coverage generally reaches all the lounges and rooms and there are a couple of games stacked away for rainy days and family fun.

One of the upstairs lounges is fitted out to double as a comfortable and relaxed conference room for those necessary management and planning corporate getaways.

Desks and quiet areas to concentrate are much appreciated by those who need to “work from home,” a growing population in the modern world.

“We stayed at number 4 as a gift to my wife from Emma.
    The view was magnificent.
    The accommodation was lovely.
The pool was a short walk but worth it.
No black-outs cos an inverter was provided.
Our only concern was the monkeys. As long as you are aware, then they are not a problem.”
