Amakhala Safari Lodge, Eastern Cape

The lodge is secretly hidden in the indigenous bush. African tribal design inspired the creation of this intimate lodge of wood, reeds and thatch. Canvas drop blinds open up the views to the surrounding beauty. Eleven unique safari suites offer all the comforts. Soak in a luxurious double bath or splash off the dust in an outdoor shower before sharing your days’ adventure around the fireside under a canopy of stars. The lodge has a splendid view of a small waterhole that attracts birds, monkeys, giraffe, zebra and numerous antelope species. Be fascinated by our abundant wildlife; elephant, lion, rhino, cheetah, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, and many antelope species. These game drives are very intimate and you will also learn about the small and interesting animals and plants of the reserve as well as the history of the land and people. The Bushman’s River runs through Amakhala Game Reserve and we include it in one of our afternoon game drives in the form of a sun downer cruise.

Current rates:  R 2 720 per person per night sharing

    Guest review:

Myself and two sisters stayed here after we had been to Cape Town and then did the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth. Spending two nights on this reserve was awesome. The staff could not do enough for you. They put on an African night for us on our last night – food and dancing. The lodge we were staying in was excellent – had everything that you wanted even an outdoor shower if you fancied it. Food excellent, bed comfy. On the safari trips they took you on you even stopped for a break and offered wine beer minerals etc. Seeing the wild animals up close and personal was out of this world. I could not fault this place and would highly recommend it to anyone.
